Experiencing Dystopia Through <i>Umwelt</i>: Modelling the Nonhuman Animal in <i>Hollow Kingdom</i>

The experience of nonhuman animals is typically neglected in dystopian fiction, particularly as concerns the experiences domestic pets. presence such creatures dystopia often notable only by their absence, with animal life (or lack thereof) being a characteristic, albeit peripheral, marker social or environmental loss. In recent years, however, authors have been increasingly drawn to role end times, presenting worlds from perspective characters. Exploring projection consciousness contemporary dystopia, I look investigate this phenomenon, focusing on modelling minds Hollow Kingdom. Drawing upon work Caracciolo and Herman, analyse presentation narration, exploring how we attribute characters how, turn, conceptualisation Kingdom given texture result voices, perceptions attitudes it presents.
